This week is all about living authentically. I know there has been a ton of written content over the summer of meditation challenge so this week I made you a vlog or “video blog” (my first!). Click on the photo above to learn what it means (and what it doesn’t mean) to bring your full self to the workplace as well as tips for growing your capacity to be real in all your roles and environments.
Your Meditation Practice this Week: Tapping
Watch a “How-to” video here with details on this simple acupressure technique which you can use at any time to relieve stress at work or in any facet of life.
Real World Mindfulness Practice
An Adventure in Authenticity: Notice this week as you move through your life and various roles the people and situations where it is easier to be yourself. Likewise, notice the situations which trigger you or make you feel you need to wear a mask or defend your ego. Make space for everything you find, don’t make yourself bad or wrong, simply observe your experiences.
Get curious: can you identify one way to grow the time you spend in spaces where you can be yourself, and to crowd out the time spend in spaces where you have to “turn it on” or impress. Even if your work life is entirely “ego-driven” make sure you care for yourself in your off hours. And begin to notice if there are little islands of ease & authenticity in your day… how you could spend more time there?
Meditation: Try tapping by itself or as part of your 15 minutes of breath or mantra meditation in the AM) + 15 minutes of a walking meditation or reflecting with gratitude on your day in the PM.
The Commitment. Now it is Your Turn.
What one thing would you like to try this week? Maybe you will tap in the shower, upon waking, or before bed. Maybe you can squeeze in a daily 10 minute meditation at your lunch break. Or practice setting good boundaries at work while staying in a place of openness and beginners mind. Whatever it is it helps to get specific! Write a comment below… even if you aren’t normally a “write a comment on blogs kind of person.” Seriously, I’d love to hear!
