Happy Friday! Today I’m incredibly excited about the ten women who are winging their way south to be part of my retreat and book launch party here in Granada.

And my energy is all pulled in their direction: printing out the final handouts, reviewing my notes, buying chocolate and treats for their room. For months I had this vision of the casa privada full of beautiful women and it is coming true. Stepping into this experience and seeing the book becoming real as we move through the final stage before its publication on Oct 27 is incredibly satisfying but also really stimulating for sure! I’ve been waking up early with a buzz in my mind and heart, like a child before Christmas or their birthday.

It is on days like this that I especially am grateful for the life I have under-girding me: the support of my husband and our tiny (and much easier to keep clean) house, my children and their capacity to pop me out of a busyness fog and make me laugh and dance and those bigger things, like the pattern of the clouds and the bougainvillea. Beauty which supports me if I allow it in.

And I have been thinking lately about what it means, and what it could mean, to create a life with only your favorite things.

Now first, a big caveat: we don’t really control much.

We have influence for sure – and our life has serious ripple effects and the power to affect those around us and our government and world. But we can’t unilaterally control things and bend the world or our lives to our liking.

(This distinction between influence and control is an important one: in fact many of the women I work with have such high expectations for themselves that they step into anover responsibility mode: trying and pushing in every aspect of their life. Which quickly drains our energy bank accounts as we try both to be who others want us to be and to control or influence the experiences of those around us.)

But that caveat out of the way, we do have a lot of choice in our life:

  • Which thoughts we let charm us.
  • Which objects we choose to let into our home and which we release.
  • And simple body things like what time we choose to let ourselves go to bed.

And when we make choices that honor who we really are, then our life mirrors that back to us. It starts to be filled with only our very favorite things.

Of course this is a continually evolving journey – but today I want to share with you two of my current favorite things: a rainbow over breakfast this morning and inspirational quotes from my book. You can find both over on my brand new author Facebook page (which I hope you will visit and “like” today). And look for more quotes coming soon plus behind the scenes shots from this weekend’s adventures with the ladies!

Also would you like your own free copy of The Flourish Formula? Register for my virtual book launch party here. And share with a friend. I would love your help downloading during the particular hour, 12-1PM Central (Central Daylight Time), to help us with our goal of Amazon best-seller status in my subgenres: “mindfulness” in Mind/Body/Spirit Health and “time-management” under the self-help/personal growth genre.

There is so much learning going on in my life right now as my husband and I learn how to work together, my kids learn Spanish and I learn from my neighbors how to sloooow down. I am so grateful I get to share this journey with you and I hope to see you next Friday for the virtual book launch party (you can join via video or just call in.)

I have some surprises in store!
