I could use your help! Something fun and new is happening for me in my business and life. I have a whole degree of care and attention going to life behind the scenes than I’ve ever had before. And also some significant surprises.

What am I talking about?

Well… for starters my home is about one third the size of my house in Dallas and I’m learning so much in our transition to little-house-living. Some of it is wonderful and there are other serious challenges, like how to keep my introvert self sane while working from home with my husband and sharing a < 1,000 square foot house with three children. Oh, and the noise factor of all this indoor/outdoor living in Granada, like fruit vendors constantly hawking their wares at the front door when I’m trying to write, fireworks, marching bands, even speakers on trucks blasting announcements of funerals! Not to mention the home-generated noise created during play dates in the pool.

The biggest change is that my husband is now working in my business. Where before I had a small team of a virtual assistant, bookkeeper/accountant (and periodic lawyer to review contracts etc.), I now have a true business partner with a different skill set to nurture the coaching practice in ways that I am honestly not that good at but find myself really craving: hello, systems! God love him, he actually made a beautiful flow chart to capture all of our processes. And he has designed a system for keeping my files, documents, handouts and marketing blurbs organized on Dropbox.

And this support is opening up more space for me to focus on the aspects of work that I love: coaching women, writing and ongoing education and networking/speaking opportunities. (I’m even going to be interviewed for my first podcast appearance – stay tuned for that! And if you have other podcasts that you follow and enjoy I’d love to learn about them.)

I also now have the opportunity to be more thoughtful about the free resources and reflections I offer you each week. In 2018, I will start a new series of blogs in which I respond to YOUR questions.

I will probably send out a survey on this subject but for now I’d love to invite you to reply here with a quick note:

Do you have a question or a challenge you are struggling with?

In the past five years I have covered some tender territory on this blog:

Like how to Find Courage When You Feel Life Smacking You In the Gut

How to Do Soul Surgery

Shame Spirals

The Compare and Despair Economy

With the bookwebsite redesign and move to Nicaragua I am definitely focusing more on the question of how do we slow down enough that we can actually accomplish/savor/love/live more.

It is not about becoming a slow living expert but rather slowing down the right amount so that we can enjoy life more fully and have clarity about what is our inspired work and what is ours to let go of.

This messy slowing-down business is a perennial challenge for my inner overachiever who prefers going fast and looking like I have my shizzle together.

It turns out that slowing down opens the door to some interesting inner processes, something I’d like to share more about in the coming months. (Tropical living is, of course, not just sunsets and fruity beverages!)

But for today I hope you will leave a comment below and let me know:

Do you struggle with slowing down?

Or feeling guilty that you didn’t get enough done?

Or can’t fit it all in?

Tell me more!

Also if you would like me to address a specific question/challenge/subject, what would that be?

I can’t wait to hear your feedback and ideas! You can also send a quick email to cp@courtneypinkerton.com with your thoughts.

Also I want to let you know that Bird in Hand Coaching will be taking a break for the holidays from Dec 20th through Jan 8thwhile my family and I head to Costa Rica. I’ve cued up some favorite resources to share over the next few weeks as my husband Rich and I will be mostly offline. I say mostly because I’m pretty sure I’m not going to be able to resist sharing some behind the scenes shots of our adventures over on Instagram and Facebook if you want to connect there. This Costa Rica Christmas has been a dream of mine for three years and I’m so very excited its coming true!

Wishing you a season of hope, love, joy and all the good.

Courtney
PS If you would like to get a head start on the new year I do have a handful of Discovery Sessions open in January. What is a Discovery Session? I guide you through a specific process to help you get fresh perspective on a current challenge and you can learn all about my coaching options and ask any questions. These calls are really fun — like a good cup of coffee and a moment to yourself. Schedule one today. xo Courtney
