Sunshine in a Bottle includes three foundational processes for flourishing. The bulk of this teaching is something I previously shared only on retreats and with private clients. The rest of it is new content I haven’t offered in any other space!

Here are the three processes we’ll explore together:

Step Two: FIND MORE ENERGY

How do we have the fuel to keep showing up for ourselves, our dreams, and our values? 

This is where we learn to pay attention to what GIVES you energy by helping you access adequate rest, pleasures, and open-ended time. Ironically, good things, when they feel new or out of our comfort zone, can actually trip our stress response and cause us to overindulge or shut down. So in this step I’ll share strategies for expanding the good in your life in a gentle, sustainable way. I’ll also offer a powerful framework about the shadow side of pleasure including numbing and overdoing it, why this happens and what we can do instead!

Step One: FIND FREEDOM FROM STRESS & INNER PRESSURE

Learn effective strategies to manage external stressors, self-criticism and negative self-talk. Make easeful progress toward your goals by integrating Positive Intelligence mental exercises into your regular routine. ID your Enneagram Type and build awareness of how to utilize this personality map to better understand your needs, embody your unique gifts, and resource yourself more wholly.

Step Three: FIND FLOW AKA HOLISTIC TIME MANAGEMENT

Here I share a step-by-step process to break out of a ‘busyness fog’ to create a schedule and rhythm to life that fits your current needs. (No more waking with mind racing & already feeling behind!) Instead open your eyes & feel supported & inspired. In this step I share practical calendar and planning strategies and tools that enable you to slow down and accomplish and savor more of what is important to you.

Hi, I am Courtney!

Working in a sustainable way wasn’t always something I knew how to do.

As a sensitive, INFP, empath, and introvert with a desire to make a difference; I struggled for years to find my equilibrium. I felt a lot of personal pressure and I’d force myself forward to tackle the next thing on my to-do list without pausing to gain the clarity I really needed to take my most inspired, productive action.

I often felt behind and would end up drained but struggled to adequately unplug and recharge. In my thirties after an early career of direct service as a domestic violence advocate, Peace Corps volunteer, and non-profit leader as well as four years of rigorous graduate study, I burned out.

Things had to change in terms of how I related to myself, my work, relationships, and pacing and I engaged in a multi-year research project to help me forge a new, sustainable approach. Luckily, I had a friend who introduced me to her coach and invited me to a transformational retreat as well as an Enneagram teacher who helped me see the patterns that were keeping me stuck. Together these mentors helped me build powerful skills and opened up a new career for me. As a coach I try to pay forward what I have learned and to make it easier for others do their best work and enjoy vibrant personal lives.

I have been a trained coach since 2012, but it wasn’t until I integrated the resiliency benefits of nature WITH the power of coaching resources that I unearthed the most powerful results, for myself and clients.

I’m committed to sharing these frameworks, tools, and practices more widely because they work to liberate us from old energy-expensive habits and unlock our most potent contributions.

A little more about me:

  • I spent four years studying the intersection of spirituality and leadership at Harvard, earning dual master’s degrees from the Divinity and Kennedy Schools.

  • I’m a Certified Wayfinder Coach through MBI, an experienced Enneagram mentor, trained in Positive Intelligence and the author of The Flourish Formula: An Overachiever’s Guide to Slowing Down & Accomplishing More.

  • I’ve been married for over twenty years to my husband, Rich and we live with our three teenagers, four cats, and fourteen chickens on our Apple Balm Tiny Farm, near Asheville, North Carolina.

  • Yes! Sunshine in a Bottle has a beautiful online learning space. Once you purchase the program you have ongoing access to all the lessons so you can take your time with it and return again and again.

  • The Enneagram is an ancient personality map. Just as we see patterns in nature there are patterns to being a human. Of the nine different personality types, three types lead with their "head," three lead with their "heart" and three lead with their “gut” or body intelligence.

    The Enneagram helps you identify those hidden or subterranean habits which guide your thinking and actions. If you have ever found yourself in a tight spot in your relationships or your work and wondered "How did I get here again?" The Enneagram can help you understand what is going on and give you freedom to make fresh choices.

    In support of these values I am offering two kinds of awards for Sunshine in a Bottle.

    Climate Action awards are open to anyone whose work centers on climate action/planetary healing. Climate grief and anxiety are a significant burden, especially for those who are working in this sector every day looking for solutions and consuming lots of information about our planet. This program offers many resources to avoid or heal from burnout and simple, accessible nature-based healing strategies. Climate award participants could include, organizers, non-profit workers, and activists, sustainable businesses and those working in international or governmental agencies to pursue conservation goals and inter-sector solutions to climate change.

    Expansion Awards invite the involvement and perspective of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) and LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Plus) participants - as well as folks with disabilities, immigrants, those from under-resourced/low-income communities and refugees. Coaching has historically centered white and economically privileged voices. For this reason I would like to partner with diverse community members to make the Enneagram and coaching resources more widely available.

    I hope both the climate action and expansion award recipients will share the resources from this program with others so that together we can create more ripples of resiliency.
